Uniqlo approached ZAK with a brief to re-imagine their AIRism boxers in an 'Overtly Masculine' tone. They wanted a series of social assets which embodied the spirit of aviation and spacecraft since the Japanese material manufacturers of these boxers 'Torary' are also known for creating lightweight materials for Boeing and NASA. This was quite a jump for Uniqlo so we pitched three ideas which encompassed more technological fueled imagery and really pushed the visual boundaries of their classical social branding. The team loved both the first and third concept and wanted a blend of both to which we elaborated with further CG r&d.
